₦5 million Charge Fake News: Enugu Ministry of Education Fingers Unlicensed, Illegal Schools

The Ministry said that contrary to the fake news that the government had issued a demand notice of N5 million, new and existing private schools in the state were required to either register for provisional approval or have their licenses renewed with between ₦100,000 to ₦300,000 depending on which category the schools fall.

Enugu State Government Takes Bold Step to Uphold Educational Standards, As Ministry of Education Begins Closure of Substandard Schools

The Enugu State Government has expressed growing concern over the alarming increase in unauthorized and substandard schools cropping up across the state. In line with the Education Law, specifically Part VI Section 49 subsection 2 and Section 53 subsection (1)(a) and (b), it is an offence to establish and operate a school without first obtaining evaluation and approval from the Ministry of Education.

As one of the six states selected for this phase in Nigeria, Enugu's remarkable strides in transforming education are gaining national attention. Prof. Mbah expressed the state's readiness to embrace this opportunity, stating, "We are eager to openly share our challenges and collaborate to implement sustainable solutions." The Project focuses keenly on Basic education reform, Teacher recruitment, retention, and motivation, as well as National Teacher Education Policy Reform (NTEP) to enhance teaching outcomes.
