Policy

These policies are in line with the vision of the Governor of Enugu State to provide quality education to all children in the state.

The key resolutions put forth by the Ministry of Education are as follows:

Compulsory enrolment: Every child of school age in Enugu State must be enrolled in either a public or private school. Education is provided free of charge in Enugu State Public Schools.

Mandatory class attendance: Regular and punctual class attendance is now compulsory for all enrolled students. This requirement applies to all five working days of the week, including Mondays.

Consequences for non-compliance: Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that their wards attend school regularly, especially on Mondays. Failure to do so will result in a 20% deduction from the curriculum, rendering the student ineligible for requisite examinations and progression to the next class.

Government’s commitment to education: The Ministry of Education emphasized that the government has provided lasting security and peace in the state to create a conducive environment for education, urging parents and guardians not to compromise the future of their children.

Enforcement of policies: The Ministry of Education has made it clear that these policies will be strictly enforced across all public and private schools in the state, without exceptions. Non-compliance with these regulations will have consequences.
