The duties of the department are: -
- The Department helps to provide access to education for all the children irrespective of ability or disability in the State.
- Ensures that textbooks are transcribed in Braille for blind learners.
- Helps in identifying gifted children and assisting them to get admission into the Federal Government Academy at Suleja (Gifted Children School)
- The department also sees that guidance and counseling services are provided to the learners in the schools.
- Visit schools to ensure compliance to approved curriculum and textbooks
