The Enugu state Ministry of Education has commenced the closure of unapproved and unlicensed schools; many of which are deemed to be unsafe for Enugu state students and fail to meet the minimum standard of education in the state.

Two of such unlicensed and unapproved schools  - Miraculous Nursery & Primary School, New Haven Extension, Ugbo Umehe, Enugu and Fear of God Nursery & Primary School, Amabor Obodo Asaa in Awgu LGA respectively, have been shut down respectively.

By virtue of the Education Law Cap 37, Revised Laws of Enugu State 2004, and Enugu State of Nigeria Education (Amendment) Law 2017, Section 56, to ensure minimum standards of education, to streamline private schools within the Basic and Post-Basic Education system, as well as to enhance the effective administration, monitoring, and supervision of private schools, the Enugu State Ministry of Education has launched its Quality Assurance task force, with the singular purpose of ensuring compliance across the state.

It is imperative that all private school proprietors recognize the importance of compliance with regulatory requirements. By doing so, they not only contribute to a safer and more effective learning environment but also uphold the integrity of our educational system.

Proprietors of schools are hereby reminded that they have until September 24, 2024 to regularize their licenses and ensure they have approval from the Enugu state Ministry of Education to operate a school.
