On May 10th, the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze L. Mbah took the opportunity to update the public via the Afia News TV platform on the progress made by the government in the education sector under the incumbent administration. He highlighted significant investments in the state's pilot smart green school at Owo, Nkanu East Local government. He shed light on the school infrastructure, emphasizing its magnitude and strategic location, and also underscored the government's commitment to student welfare through available school lunch programs, benefiting the 862 enrolled students ranging from pre primary to JS 3.

Moreover, he spotlighted the dedicated team of 40 trained teachers, who receive exclusive state benefits, contributing to the quality of education offered. The commissioner elaborated on the integration of technological amenities, made possible through substantial state investments, enhancing the learning environment for students and educators alike.  Excitingly, he shared details about the ongoing SDG innovation challenges engaging both teachers and students, showcasing the school's commitment to forward-thinking solutions aligned with global sustainability goals. Additionally, the commissioner mentioned the establishment of a world-class sick bay and implementation of clean water solutions, further enhancing student well-being.  

In a noteworthy announcement, the commissioner revealed that His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State has set a date for the official commissioning of the Enugu Smart Green School, Owo, reaffirming the government's promise of free basic education.

Amb. Dr. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure, the IHRC Global Director General and Ambassador also present on the show, commended the state government for its innovative initiatives in the education sector and further briefed the media on the upcoming NgEducators And International Human Rights Commission Model United Nations (NgIMUN Enugu 2024) conference. Scheduled for June 2nd – 8th, 2024, and the first of its kind in Africa, the NgIMUN Enugu 2024 is to be hosted by Enugu State as approved by His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
